As DIY house-builders, we were able to make decisions along the way to change things based on circumstances, the domino effect, or a better idea.
I'm sorry to say that more often than we expected, it was a window that had to be sacrificed.
I think garret windows so pretty, but long before the porch roof extension went up it was decided that there would be no garret-- just attic storage-- and the charming top window idea had to go. We were just waiting for the bracket to be put into place so we could have something to nail to when we blocked the opening.
(I'm sure you will like the way the siding makes up for the loss! I hardly think about the window-that-almost-was anymore!)
