Turns out digging in this ground isn't easy. It isn't dirt exactly, more like pressed rock layers. A backhoe could only do so much.

 But the power had to get to the house somehow, so man-power was utilized. Along with metal spears (to break through the rock). Hand-and-spear. The Paleo way to go.
