White Spider, Pink Rose

Out cutting miniature roses one day, this fellow gave me quite a scare.

Fortunately, he was more frightened than I was. I think.

Antique Quilts

Here are two quilts from the family heirlooms I recently had the pleasure of viewing. Above is a scrap quilt, almost like a crazy quilt but in cottons, and below is an unfinished autograph quilt top. They were made by a great-great-grandmother.

I just love the fine handwriting/embroidery of family friends.

Gingham Girls

Sorting through a storage box, I found an envelope full of my old Gingham Girl paper dolls. They brought back many happy memories.

Each set came with a pop-out background scene, and a doll with a whole wardrobe of appropriate attire.

I enjoyed reading this about the Gingham girls.

Our Question of the Month comes from a busy mother who is admittedly not a morning person:
"Any ideas what I can fix for breakfast besides cereal and toast and eggs? It is getting a little boring...."
What do you fix for breakfast? Do you have any favorite breakfast foods, or do you enjoy doing something out-of-the-ordinary for breakfast? Does anyone have any make-ahead breakfast ideas?
