Sundry Items

 A little update on how we were living when the snow melted. We had functional bathrooms, closet shelving, and a stove in the upcoming kitchen. Countertops were necessary for occupancy so it wasn't a "real" kitchen yet. I was still cooking our of the laundry room... yes, I had abandoned the RV kitchen forever! 

 

Since the kitchen is the heart of the home (where the food is), we all wanted to be there and all of us brought our stuff up to the house to work on. We were gradually taking over...

There are times in your life when you need to buy a side of beef, and don't have room in your current appliances to house it.  Let's see, how many things have these fellows hauled up the path by hand now? Lumber, Cast Iron Bathtub (up), Cast Iron Bathtub (down), Beams, Piano, Full-sized Freezer, Fridge...

Our "temporary" shelf in the laundry room "kitchen." Made of scrap plywood and attached to the wall by a wooden French Cleat. I love the French cleat! Too bad I couldn't convince the builders to do all the shelving that way.

 I don't do well on ladders, but when they installed an attic ladder in this space I was able to climb it! When I get up there, it is so quiet-- just me and the wind. And my stuff (yes, we quickly stuffed the attic). Once I get up there, I am inclined to stay and enjoy being still and quiet.
Do you ever go up to the attic just to sit?

 

 

If you are in the house all the time for work, food, school, and play, it makes sense to hang your coat up in the future coat closet. Only, you may have to share it with levels, rulers, and scrap lumber. 

 

 If you haven't noticed from previous posts, any new or available surface was used for a desk. There was no "office" room in the plans. We had not anticipated anyone in the family would be working full-time from home, or that there would be any need house eight computers for work, school and weekend projects!

 

 

I guess once you have worked at home building the home, you want to come home to work from home. We kindly gave him the coat closet for an office. 

Everyone needed an office space. One day the entire "garage" was moved out of the future living room to make room for hastily constructed plywood desks. We didn't have any fancy furniture to go in there anyway.
